A message from the Chef
I opened this restaurant with the hope of creating a warm space where people can pause and relax, even in the middle of the city. Every dish is handmade, with great care to bring out the natural flavors of seasonal ingredients. Through these flavors, I want guests to experience the changing seasons and, most of all, to see their smiles.
As our restaurant is small, I treasure each encounter with every guest, welcoming you in a friendly, at-home atmosphere. Whether it’s your first visit or not, please come as you are and enjoy your meal at ease. I look forward to the day we meet.
About
Owan Fuu is a hidden Japanese restaurant just a -minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station South Exit and about 10 minutes from Yoyogi Station. Tucked quietly in the corner of a building, the door opens to a calm, wood-filled interior. At the centerpiece counter, crafted from a single wooden board, guests can enjoy watching dishes prepared right before them. The space is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for friends or a date.
Along with counter seating, there is also a semi-private tatami room (for up to 4 people), ideal for family gatherings and a variety of occasions. Guests visiting from abroad for their first taste of Japanese cuisine can feel at ease, as the staff provide thoughtful and approachable service. Here, time flows gently while you enjoy fine food and drinks in a peaceful setting.

Locally-Sourced Ingredients
Every detail at Owan Fuu, from the ingredients to the dishes and tableware, are carefully selected. A highlight is the clay-pot rice, made with premium Koshihikari rice from Iwafune in Niigata Prefecture, freshly cooked for each group. To pair with the food, the selection of Japanese sake centers on regional varieties from Aizu-Wakamatsu in Fukushima, the owner’s hometown.
The menu is offered as a seasonal omakase course, featuring fresh seafood sourced directly from Toyosu Market for sashimi, and other carefully chosen ingredients. True to the restaurant’s name, the owan (soup bowl) showcases a delicately prepared broth, creating a dish that warms both body and heart. With seasonal colors reflected in both presentation and tableware, every dish is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
