8-Course Seasonal Kamameshi Kaiseki with Sashimi in Shinjuku, Tokyo

Our restaurant has been serving customers in Shinjuku for over 50 years, making us one of the long-established names in the area. I took over from the previous owner and have now been running the restaurant for more than 20 years.

What we are most proud of is our kamameshi—a traditional Japanese rice dish cooked in a clay pot. I hope you’ll enjoy not only the flavors of the seasonal ingredients but also the fragrant aroma and crisp layer of rice at the bottom of the pot. We look forward to welcoming you to dine with us.

Course Menu

Specialty - Kamameshi

Kamameshi is a traditional Japanese rice dish, cooked together with ingredients such as seafood, meat, or mountain vegetables in a clay pot seasoned with broth and soy sauce. Served directly in the pot, it is enjoyed for its freshly cooked fragrance and the crispy rice at the bottom.

At this Shunsai Daikoku, the kamameshi changes with the seasons and even from day to day, showcasing ingredients like octopus, nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), turban shell, oysters, sea bream, and sweetfish. Each visit offers a chance to enjoy a different flavor of this classic dish at its very best.
