Seasonal Kaiseki Dinner: 9-Course Traditional Japanese Kaiseki in Asakusa

I approach every dish with the belief that the true essence of an ingredient should shine through.

After honing my skills in Kyoto, including time at the Michelin two-star restaurant Roan Kikunoi, and serving as a private chef at the Japanese Embassy in London, I opened this restaurant in 2022 in the heart of Asakusa, a neighborhood rich in culture and tradition.
Each ingredient is carefully selected and prepared to bring out its natural character. I invite you to enjoy a relaxed dining experience at Asakusa Nagami, where thoughtful Japanese cuisine and heartfelt hospitality await. I look forward to welcoming you.

About

Tucked away on a quiet backstreet just north of Senso-ji Temple, Asakusa Nagami is a hidden gem offering an elegant kappo (Japanese fine dining) experience.

Opened in June 2022, the restaurant is helmed by a chef trained at Kyoto’s renowned Roan Kikunoi (two Michelin stars). Each month, guests are invited to enjoy a thoughtfully curated kaiseki course menu that showcases seasonal ingredients and refined techniques, carefully designed to bring out each ingredient’s natural character.

With just 7 seats at the counter, the space offers an intimate atmosphere where the chef—also a certified sommelier—personally guides guests through sake and Japanese wine pairings, including rare selections from the San’in region. Asakusa Nagami is reservation-only, making it the ideal choice for travelers seeking a quiet, sophisticated dining experience just steps away from the heart of Asakusa.

Ingredients & Dining Philosophy

Our philosophy centers on quiet elegance and heartfelt hospitality.

Rather than relying on extravagance, we aim to capture the spirit of the season through refined preparation, thoughtful plating, and carefully chosen tableware. Each dish is crafted to highlight the natural qualities of its ingredients, balancing flavor, aroma, and texture with precision.

Presented in a kaiseki format, each course contributes to a larger culinary narrative. The chef-sommelier offers pairing suggestions to complement each dish, drawing on a selection of fine Japanese wines and sake.
